St Johns Province Kanjirapally

Eucharistic Adoration

“I am the bread of Life and he who believes in me shall never thirst” (John6:35). Our living faith in the Sacramental presence of Christ who said the above words and our hope in His tremendous love that is shown in this presence inspire us to be worshippers of the Father in and thorough the Eucharistic Lord. Through this adoration before the Eucharistic presence, we give response to our call for reparation, which is the offering of greater love for the rejected love in the Eucharist. This adoration is the visible expression of the spirit and identity of the SABS community. It the exhortation of our Founder the Venerable, Mar Thomas Kurialassery, that each one of us should spend sufficiently long time before the Blessed Sacrament inorder to experience this unending love personally and to explain our love to Him.

Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament is the rich heritage of our community and the right of each one of us. All of us spend at least one hour every day in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. There are two perpetual adoration chapels in our St Johns province exclusively for exposed adoration.

Adoration in Turns: In order to keep up the identty of our congregation and the smooth running of Adoration, we take turns in being before the Blessed Sacrement.

Unit Adoration: Following the instructions of our Founder, taking the whole congregation as one unit, we have continous adoration, which is conducted in each province as specified from the Generalate. Each of our convents are having an hour of adoration for this cause.

13 Hours Exposed Adoration: We accept requests to conduct 13 hours of adoration and perpetual adoration on specific feast days. “13 hours adoration” is conducted from morning to evening or afternoon to midnight not less than 8 hours, and perpetual adoration is “13 hours adoration” conducted on the date requested by the faithful for a period of 25 years. Faithful approach us with their intentions and request for “13 hours adoration” which is really conducted in all our convents many times every month.

Mid-Night Adoration: The mid-night adoration we have on all Thursdays is a special heritage our congregation. The night vigil helps us to deepen in the spirit of reparation.
