It is the vision of our Founder, the Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialassery that the sick and the afflicted should experience the comforting and healing touch of the Eucharistic Lord through the sisters engaged in healing ministry. SABS sisters are bound to start hospitals and dispensaries in villages and rural areas where other medical facilities are not available.
Kanjirapally St John’s Province has taken up this vision and has a hospital at Koruthode, a remote village area where the inhabitants are poor and not much educated. Our sisters there are available and approachable to all the local people during all the 24 hours of a day. They set apart a portion of their reward to meet the expenses of the very poor people there. Our sisters even go the houses in the nearby places to provide nursing care to the bedridden patients. People see this hospital as a real home of mercy as its name ‘Karuna Bhavan’ depicts. This is the only place of refuge to the underprivileged and deprived of the society there. Our Sisters at the hospital extend their merciful hands to all in the locality irrespective of caste, creed and belief and stay blessed in their service.
